Digital signatures
based on asymmetric encryption and public key cryptography and certificates provide a proof of authenticity for documents and ensure auditability of business transactions. This makes it possible to automate business processes, accelerate transactions and significantly reduce costs.
In implementing digital signatures, we consider the entire “document life cycle”, starting from generation via distribution and approval up to
archiving of a document. The legal binding of digitally signed documents is ensured by new legislation within the EC. In Germany, the so-called “qualified signature” is, apart from a few exceptions, on a par with
the conventional manual signature. For digital archives there is the requirement to verify documents even years later, e.g. in the context of tax audits or warranty issues.
